ACTIVITIES :
USS Renaissance Launch Party: On October 16, an official event was held to celebrate the launch of the newly commissioned USS Renaissance. The event was well attended by USS Renaissance crew, Region 13 delegates, Regional Coordinators, as well as SFI friends from all across the globe! It was a lovely event – a celebration of the camaraderie that is STARFLEET International.

A special launch video was created for the event which can be accessed at: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1X-jWJDiQSvBWFlNSezss6I4tG68agB1c/view?usp=sharing
We are so thankful to all who came to support our crew and celebrate our new journey as the USS Renaissance.

Follow-Up on Naming Contest: After a lively naming contest which saw 82 entries submitted (incredible!), a short list was created. Crew members then selected from this shorter list…and the name USS Renaissance rose to the top! Three other names were also felt to be great contenders – and thus, these names will be used to christen our new complement of shuttlecraft.

Launch of the New Logo: After some feedback from the crew, Commander Randy Mitson outdid himself in creating a logo which personifies the spirit of our crew! The logo contains elements which speak of rebirth, rebranding and a reimagining of our journey together. We are so thankful to have such a creative team!

USS Renaissance Cadets: Our Cadets continue to be involved via our Cadet Facebook page and have taken an active role in our crew meetings. There are plans to engage our enthusiastic Cadets in the upcoming food drive initiative.

Alliance with Montreal Klingons (KAG): Our friends from KAG continue to attend our meetings and events and we are thrilled to have made this connection with our Klingon counterparts! We are continuing to plan for the Montreal Comiccon in July 2023.

Website & Social Media Platforms: The change of chapter name has generated much work and Commander Mitson has been hard at work making changes on our website. All social media platforms have been updated and our vision and mission statements have been reworked. Our public page now has 948 followers and there is much activity on a daily basis.

Recruitment/Retention: We gained two new members this month – and we are continuing our efforts to reach out and recruit.

Future Charity Work: A special alliance is planned with the Student Leadership of Chateauguay Valley Regional High School to raise funds for food banks. Commander Mitson, Cadet Audrey Roberge, Ensign Junior Grade Roberge and I are poised to help facilitate this initiative.

Events and Challenges: Saturday night social hours continue on the Renaissance and we continue to have good attendance each week! Our standing invitation to take part in the Thursday night games with the USS Sandwich have also been well attended by Renaissance crew, others in Region 13 and SFI members from several different regions. Many crew members continue to take part in the Reading Challenge (hosted by the USS Volaris) and we thank Captain O’Neill for organizing this! USS Renaissance members continue to take part in the Step Challenge (hosted by Starfleet Medical).

Respectfully submitted,
Captain Lynn Harper
