| ACTIVITIES: | Our Crew: The crew of the Renaissance interact on a daily basis! While we are separated geographically, we are constantly engaged in lively chatter in our Facebook messenger chat. Our Chief Science Officer, MCPO Fisher continues to post interesting materials for our Cadets and for the crew at large on our various social media pages and in Discord. My XO, Fleet Captain Mitson has the day-to-day workings of our ship well in hand…and is a wealth of information. Newly promoted “Captain” Doucet, our Chief of Intelligence, is hard at work on the next newsletter – the Renaissance Intelligence Report – and is a huge asset to the crew.
Montreal COMICCON & Montreal Canada Day Parade: Preparations continue for these two important crew events in the summer of 2024. As discussed at our last crew meeting, we will be working towards fundraising which supports local children’s hospitals. Social Media Platforms: Our public page continues to be a popular place with 1.6 K followers! Our crew continues to “chat” via messenger and Discord and we spend time throughout the week checking in and “role-playing”. Events and Challenges: Saturday night social hours continue on the Renaissance and attendance continues to grow! Solar Eclipse Talk: Our physicist in residence, Ensign Mariève Michaud will make a presentation on the upcoming Solar Eclipse next week (April 6th). As a dedicated student pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Physics and an official eclipse ambassador of the University of Montreal, Mariève is on a mission to unravel the mysteries of celestial phenomena. During her presentation, Ensign Michaud will illuminate the intricate celestial components behind partial and total eclipses, paving the way for an unforgettable experience of the total eclipse gracing North America on April 8.
