Social media has made it easier than ever to keep in touch with the crew of the USS Renaissance. We have shipmates spread out over two countries and thousands of miles, yet we can speak to each other instantly through message chats and Discord. The general chat for the Renaissance is active all day, so there’s always someone with whom a person can connect, even when on the night shift.

We have also used social media to share the links for our Zoom meetings, which have included not only ship wide meetings, but also trivia nights and watch parties. Social media has been often utilized for planning charity events, showing crew members representing STARFLEET in their daily lives, announcing promotions, posting pictures, and communicating with other chapters and regions. Despite most of us never having met in person, we are still a united team working to better ourselves, our communities, and our ship.

Some of the social media channels through which we speak are by invitation only. This does not necessarily mean that one must be a member of STARFLEET; there is a forty-five day provisional (trial) option that doesn’t require a STARFLEET membership. However, in order to be invited to the various private channels, you must be added in by one of the Nomad crew.
