USS Renaissance Crew Meeting: Our monthly crew meeting was held on Monday, November 29th and it was very well attended. We even had a couple of guests from other ships – most notably, Captain Jane of the Vector and our UK Ambassador, Fleet Captain John Hardy. During our meeting, Commander Mitson was presented with the International Chapters XO award and I was presented with the International Chapters CO award by Fleet Captain Hardy. We are both humbled by this special recognition.

Our Fleet of Shuttles:
Commander Mitson has been hard at work redesigning our fleet of shuttles. There were so many great names presented during our name change and it was the wish of the crew to honour some of these by using them to name our shuttles.  https://ussrenaissance.ca/

With this in mind, a form has been created for crew wishing to take a shuttle out on an “away mission”.
(https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ORYWHGMzkmA9TjH0XA_SeIbSADoaDjBQ/view?usp=sharing). Once crew return from their “away missions”, they will be encouraged to write a short blog which could be shared on the website or in our Facebook chat. This past weekend, I took the “Chicoutimi” on an away mission, and thus, will begin the process by modelling how to have fun with this concept.

Website Revamp: During our crew meeting on the 29th of November, Commander Mitson was formally recognized for all of the work he has put into the revamping of our website. We are so thankful for his time and energy…as this is a monumental task.

Alliance with Montreal Klingons (KAG): Our friends from KAG continue to attend our meetings and events! We are continuing to plan for the Montreal Comiccon in July 2023….and a few of us will join our friends from KAG at the Mini-Montreal Comiccon in January! I have begun to gather USS Renaissance memorabilia for use at these events. Thanks to Fleet Captain Carden for his informative presentation at the VIC this summer – I am putting his advice to good use!

Social Media Platforms: Our public page now has over 1K followers and there is much activity on a daily basis. Our private chat is really where the activity lies. Crew interact on a regular basis and the camaraderie is palpable.

Recruitment/Retention: We gained two new members this month and so our roster now sits at 23…with members becoming more and more active in our chat. This is very encouraging and we are continuing our efforts to reach out and recruit.

Future Charity Work: Two major events are planned with the Student Leadership of Chateauguay Valley Regional High School to raise funds for food banks. The need being felt by foodbanks this season was discussed and Crewman Harper (who works with families in the public sector) remarked that this is one of the hardest seasons her organization has seen.
All crew have been asked to do what they can for those in need this season. A form has been created where the crew can post their donation totals throughout the month and beyond.

ACTIVITIES :

USS Renaissance Cadets: Our Cadets are poised to take part in several fundraising initiatives connect to the food drive. ENJG Roberge and Cadet A1 Roberge will begin the charge by helping at a Cookie Walk on December 5th.

Events and Challenges: Saturday night social hours continue on the Renaissance and we continue to have good attendance each week! Our standing invitation to take part in the Thursday night games with the USS Sandwich has also been well attended by the Renaissance crew, others in Region 13 and SFI members from several different regions. USS Renaissance members continue to take part in the Step Challenge and the Women’s Health Challenge (hosted by Starfleet Medical).
